What does independence mean to you?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 04, 2008:
Independence is something at 17, i do not have, but despertly want. I think for myself. Peer pressure means nothing. I have to live my life, my way. I may not always do what is popular, but I only need approval of the little voice in my head at night. I sometimes am frustrated at my parents inablity to let my grow up. I wish to be allowed to make descions independent from my family. I wish they would trust me, give me a chance to make mistakes, so they can be proud when i do not.
